Hello world!

I am...

Ignacio Munguía is a 25-year-old Telecommunication Engineer (and blogger, and traveller, and many other things) from Valladolid (Castile, Spain).

I have lived in...

These are the places in which I have studied, worked or just lived for a while:
1985-1986: Valladolid
1986-1987: Vigo
1987-1989: Logroño
1989-2007: Valladolid
2007-2008: Barcelona
2008: Tallinn
2008-2009: Athens
2009-2010: Valladolid
2010: Thessaloniki

I have been working in...

From March to August 2010 I have been a trainee in the ICT department of Cedefop, the European agency involved with vocational training and professional education matters. Besides that, I have been writing as a freelance editor in the professional blogs Diario del Viajero and Genciencia, of the company WeblogsSL. I have collaborated as well with the local newspaper of Valladolid El Norte de Castilla, with about 20 articles published in the printed edition, and with Live Every Litre, a campaign for the new hybrid car Honda CR-Z. I have worked as a freelance designer for several customers (see portfolio). I spent the summer of 2008 working as a tourist guide in Tallinn (Estonia). I also know how does it feel to be in the other side of the bar in a nightclub.

I have been also a softskills trainer of the Board of European Students of Technology, which is a volunteer position. I delivered several trainings about topics such as communication, motivation or negotiation skills in several European countries.

From November 2010 I will start working in the Operations & IT banking track of ING bank, in Amsterdam, so I will stay in the Netherlands for a few years.

I like...

I love to travel, I really enjoy discovering new places and cultures. I have visited 31 countries so far. I spend hours and hours surfing the web. I like reading (Nordic authors such as Jostein Gaarder or Stieg Larsson are among my favourites, I also like my fellow countryman Miguel Delibes). I like watching good movies in the cinema, although they are hard to find. I like to learn languages. Although I am only fluent in Spanish and English I can manage with Catalan and I am able to communicate in Greek. I can read French and Portuguese and I know a bit of Estonian. (I have taken lessons of all of them except Portuguese). Of course one of my favourite activities is hanging out with friends and have a beer, or a couple of them if necessary ;)

I don't like...

I hate bullfighting, I am ashamed of such a 'tradition'. I really dislike all the clichés about Spain, I don't feel identified with them (except the 'party-animal' side, maybe :D). I don't like narrow-minded people, or people who talks about stuff that they don't know at all. I don't like reality shows, I can't care less about what a bunch of stupid people is doing in a house, for instance. In fact, I don't like TV very much. I don't like to talk by the phone, I hardly can manage to keep a conversation for more than 15 minutes.

My blogs

Blogs that I have written

In 2004 I started Arquitecturas Imaginarias, my first blog. I don't write there anymore, but you can still check it. In 2008 I wrote Welcome to Estonia, about my experience in the Baltic country. After moving to Greece I started Una Odisea en Grecia, talking about my Greek life. All of them are in Spanish.

Blogs in which I still write

I have a blog in Spanish in which I post quite frequently. From time to time I write on a personal blog in English whose updating frequence is irregular. If you are interested (or just curious) in my life, my thoughts and my experiences, feel free to visit it and read more!
